Job Context

  • Support Government and other agencies to deliver safe water, improve hygiene and sanitation
  • Support in building resilient houses
  • Construct roads during an emergency
  • Assist vulnerable communities through cash support
  • Strengthen communities more resilient.
  • Arrange training to create awareness and preparedness against disaster
  • Emphasize socially excluded and marginalized people, women, and elderly

Job Responsibilities

  • Implementation of the project in the target location/s-25%
  • Responsible for all technical activities at assigned location/s under the supervision of Project Focal / Supervisor.
  • Organize the project inception meeting with different level stakeholders.
  • Provision of IRB country strategy implementation at the field level.
  • Ensure selection of beneficiaries according to criteria defined in the proposal and validate it by the respective authority.
  • Ensure inclusion of gender, persons with disabilities, elderly and other vulnerable communities according to the IR Principle and guidelines during participant selection and other steps of implementation.
  • Implementation of the assigned project activities i.e. installation of WASH and shelter facilities, water quality testing, profile making of the interventions using GPS location, etc.
  • Prepare attendance sheet, muster roll, and any other documents for audit compliances.
  • Prepare field movement and technical activity plan, approve it with supervisor and ensure strict alignment with the plan.
  • Support / Participate in different need assessments, impact evaluation, post-distribution monitoring (PDM), etc.
  • Ensure other planned activities such as various workshops and meetings.
  • Maintain coordination and cooperation with the other team.
  • Engage in effective community mobilization within IR guidelines and compliances.
  • Be aligned with the agreed time, cost, and quality constraints of the project to enable the delivery of the agreed outputs and/or benefits.
  • Practice and promote SPHERE and Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) in all project activities.
  • Support to ensure Complaints & Feedback Mechanism (CFM), Child Protection, Safeguarding & Gender Sensitivity issues concerning project activities.
  • Technical support-25%
  • Support to prepare BoQ and Design of any technical intervention of HP.
  • Estimate the quantities of the materials according to approved BoQ and Design.
  • Ensure construction quality through proper documentation.
  • Monitoring of construction activities.
  • Site selection and site preparation for construction sites.
  • Prepare a post-measurement sheet for any interventions.
  • Generate innovative ideas for WASH, shelter, and other humanitarian interventions.
  • Ensure effective monitoring of project intervention-10%
  • Regular monitoring of WASH/emergency relief/recovery/rehabilitation activities at the beneficiary level.
  • Regular monitoring of project-related activities especially the distribution of hygiene kits, toolboxes for repair and maintenance of WASH interventions, foods, NFIs, cash, etc. at the beneficiary level.
  • Monitor the working progress & ensure the quality of project activities, and materials & inform the project focal / supervisor.
  • Capacity building initiatives for project participants, key stakeholders, and project staff at the program level-10%
  • Support to organizing orientation for the newly recruited project staff.
  • Organize basic skill development training for project participants on different subjects i.e. repair and maintenance of WASH interventions, shelter, health & hygiene promotion, etc.
  • Participate and facilitate weekly and monthly project-related awareness raising and feedback sessions i.e. courtyard meetings at the community level.
  • Orient key stakeholders on Complaints & Feedback Mechanism (CFM), Child Protection, Safeguarding & Gender Sensitivity issues concerning project activities.
  • Organize training and workshop in different sectors for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective reporting, appropriate archiving, and visibility according to the project need-10%
  • Prepare the bill & check the bills vouchers.
  • Support supervisor to prepare monthly, quarterly, interim and final narrative reports as per proposal and project need.
  • Assist supervisor to prepare monthly progress reports.
  • Prepare, approve, organize and preserve all project-related documents and ensure sending to the Humanitarian & Resilience Programme department within due time.
  • Prepare or collect media & communication materials (Photographs, Case studies, etc.) required to ensure project visibility.
  • Assist in archiving the project documents (hard copy and electronic copy) as per IR guidelines.
  • Ensures comprehensive and effective communication, coordination, and advocacy with different stakeholders-10%
  • Support to organizing the project inception meeting with different level stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective networking and coordination with Upazila and DC office.
  • Establish and maintain an effective coordination mechanism with key stakeholders of the project.
  • Represent Islamic Relief Bangladesh in coordination meetings at Upazila and district levels.
  • Assist in the phase-out meeting and lesson learned workshop for further organizational development.
  • Collect successful project completion letters from relevant authorities.
  • Other Requirement-10%
  • Maintain admin related activities
  • Maintaining and supporting procurement related functions and process
  • Undertaking record-keeping system/documentation in line with IRB record management guidelines.
  • Regular Financial Monitoring and transition to ensure value for money.
  • Facilitating external/internal audit;
  • Willing and able to travel frequently for extended periods and to remote areas of the projects.
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, exploitation, Fraud, Bribery & Money Laundering to achieve the program’s goals of safeguarding implementation and as well as Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on the safeguarding of harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation, Fraud, Bribery & Money Laundering for establishing a safe working environment
  • Participate in seasonal (Ramadan & Qurbani) & emergency response programs if required.
  • Being a member of Islamic Relief as a child-friendly organization, it is the core responsibility and obligation of each staff member to understand and obey IR Child Protection & PSEA Policy and respond accordingly as and when required.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager.
